VHS Activism Archive @ Internet Archive

The VHS Activism Archive @ Internet Archive holds information and resources connected to 192 video tapes, first accumulated and used for teaching and research by one media scholar and video artist: Alexandra Juhasz. It reflects her queer feminist media praxis with particular attention to activist and experimental media concerning AIDS, anti-racism, and the art and expression of people of color, queers of many stripes, lesbians, femmes, and women. The collection also holds documentary, art video, and experimental film.The digitized tapes from the VHS Activism Archive are collected here.

The permanent home for the VHSAA collection is the National History Archive at the LGBT Community Center in New York City (GayCenter.org/archives) where the collection was re-gifted in 2026.

This collection is part of the LGBT Center of NY‘s holdings on the Internet Archive, just one of many non-profit organizations supported by the their Community Webs initiative.
