A film being “in the canon,” one in a list of celebrated greats, allows for more: more viewings, writing, money, community, more chances to make more, and
more opportunities for someone who needs it to not be robbed. But as Jeremy O. Harris, Stephen Winter, and I will soon attest, queering the canon proves to be not just tricky … but often infuriating.
